About

Born in London, the UK, I came on Aliyah in my teens and now live in Jerusalem, where I practice law. I am a firm believer in the words of Albert Schweitzer: “There are two means of refuge from the sorrows of this world – Music and Cats.” To that, you can add Literature. To curl up on the sofa with a good book, a cat at one’s feet and another one on one’s lap, with a classical symphony or concerto in the background – what more can a person ask for?

I would have to add my dog to the mix–my cat isn’t happy about that though. Music, animals, and books. Now it’s time to curl up with a good book. Take care!

Hello there and greetings from the city of your birth.

Thanks so much for reading my first lock-down post, it is much appreciated. I see that whilst I have been lounging in front of my keyboard writing a load of nonsense you have been spending your time much more productively. Home-baking, computer repair and choir practice, I can’t wait to see what skills you decide to master next!

    Great blog.

    • I might have a go at embroidery 😉
And my flat really needs painting…..

Well, it is all doable now (is that even a word?) so spend your time as profitably as you can.

Let’s be honest, the one positive of this tragic situation, if there can be one, is that the old excuse, “I just don’t have the time” doesn’t really work any more.

Please do share with us your progress.

        Regsrds,

        Fergy.

Following the war on Israel Today’s Telegram app and praying for Israel. Are you safe at the moment? What can I pray for?

    • Ian, I am safe at the moment. There were several missile attacks in Jerusalem this morning but not nearly as many as in other parts of the country. Ironic that Hamas calls this “Operation Al Aqsa Flood ” as if they are “saving” Al Aqsa – yet fire rockets on Jerusalem. I wish they had landed on their precious mosque and blown it sky high.
As I don’t have a Safe Room, and to run down the outside staircase to the shelter seems to me a big risk, I have chosen the internal corridor in my flat as the safest place in case of further missile attacks in the night.
The latest reports are of at least 200 Israelis murdered (mostly civilians, men, women and children) and more than 1100 wounded. The terrorist scum have abducted dozens of Israeli hostages (again, men, women and children) to Gaza as hostages. They broke into private homes, murdered the residents and kidnapped others. They gunned down teenagers at an outdoor party. There has to be a reckoning. You ask what you should pray for. I know what I am praying for. I am so angry. There has to be a reckoning and Hamas needs to pay – in blood. But I wouldn’t ask you to pray for that. I know, as a Christian, you can’t do that. So I don’t know how to answer you. But thank you for caring.

  6. There’s a lot we can pray about. Just War theory was greatly developed by Christianity. Rules of War and the Geneva Convention follow. Paul taught that the authorities carry the sword in order to be a terror to the wicked – in theory , at least. We are well acquainted with the Psalms of David. We can pray that wicked will repent or be removed. We can pray for the innocent, especially the children of our enemies. We can pray that God will protect those whose duty is to execute Justice. We can pray that God will protect all His people. The survival of Israel is guaranteed, but we have still to pray that God’s Will will be done. We are not too far away from you. We can pray for the traumatised and for healing. We can pray for specifics that would be a blessing etc.etc.
