Code Red in Jerusalem

About an hour and a half ago, we had a Code Red missile alert in Jerusalem – right in the middle of my favourite TV series, “The White Queen”. So I rushed down to the bomb shelter (where I discovered that the electric lights weren’t working), together with some half dozen neighbours, including two little girls who didn’t stop crying. After a few minutes, another neighbour said she had heard 3 booms coming from the direction of the Arab village across the road. So we decided that it was safe to emerge and went back, each of us to our own apartments.

I missed five critical minutes of “The White Queen”. Of course I can re-run it tomorrow on HOT V.O.D. – but since I then watched it to the end of today’s episode, there’s not much point.

Still, it spoilt the evening’s viewing. That’s another black mark against Hamas.

If there’s another Code Red Alert this evening and it screws up the broadcast of the World Cup Semi-Final between Brazil and Germany, I’ll never forgive those terrorist bastards πŸ˜‰ .

About Shimona from the Palace

Born in London, the UK, I came on Aliyah in my teens and now live in Jerusalem, where I practice law. I am a firm believer in the words of Albert Schweitzer: "There are two means of refuge from the sorrows of this world - Music and Cats." To that, you can add Literature. To curl up on the sofa with a good book, a cat at one's feet and another one on one's lap, with a classical symphony or concerto in the background - what more can a person ask for?

I would not stop watching the game until a rocket hit my apartment… although after 29 minutes, not much more to see 😦

Some people really do need to get their priorities sorted! πŸ˜‰

If the Germans were Israelis and the Brazilians Arabs, the UN would by now be passing a resolution condemning “excessive goal scoring.”

We’ve just completed a big renovation in our flat. Then last night we heard the booms and our windows shook as Iron Dome took down missiles over Tel Aviv and the region. I have formally announced that if Hamas so much as dares to ruin my new lounge I shall personally head down to Gaza and shove a rocket up their… well, where the sun don’t shine!

All that while I was getting terrified whatssups from my daughter in the Gush about loud explosions and she was home alone, while hubby was still in Tel Aviv, ducking in and out of his office as the sirens went off.

But he did make sure to be home in time to watch that crazy Germany-Brazil match. πŸ™‚

    My son dubbed the victory Χ›Χ™Χ€Χͺ Χ‘Χ¨Χ–Χ™Χœ. Clever,eh? πŸ˜€
